I’m a few days late, but I had to share a little about our big four year old.
He’s grown up so much from 3 to 4 in every way.
I’m not sure about weight and height, but he seems to be the same size as his peers. To think I worried so much about how little he was for the first few years of his life. I’ve come to the conclusion that we just make small babies.
He loves sports. He played t-ball and soccer, and he asks constantly when he can play basketball. He loves to dribble, shoot hoops, pass a football around. If it involves a ball of some sort, he’s happy. He even loves watching it in tv. He is pumped that basketball season is coming soon.
He’s opening basketball shoes in the picture above. Lebron James shoes.
He will talk your ear off. He loves to talk about anything and everything. He has tons of questions too. I love hearing him explain things to Nellie Lou, she’ll let him talk to her for hours.
He’s learning to write his name, although he’ll tell you “e” is hard. He loves to do flash cards with letters or numbers. He enjoys puzzles, but hates to put them away after he’s worked so hard on them.
Some other likes – playing outside, superheroes, being at the farm, pretending to tag baby cows (he uses Coco as his calf), reading books, snuggling, riding his backhoe.
He’s still not a great sleeper. He sleeps with us, or we sleep with him. I don’t see an end in sight. He’s a very fearful kid. He’s scared of mascots, the dark, strangers, and being alone. I’m hoping this phase ends soon. It can be exhausting when your 4 year old is scared to do anything on his own.
He’s the sweetest four year old around. I can’t wait to see what this year has in store for him, although I want it to go by as slow as possible – 4 seems big, I can’t imagine what having a 5 year old will feel like.
